School District of Indian River County – Storm Grove Middle School

 *Experience of Beth McKeown

Storm Grove Middle School was designed to reflect the modern Florida Cracker style of architecture. The design was focused on sustainability and was designed to achieve LEED® for Schools Gold Certification. Some of the unique features included a “green” light switch present in each classroom to control classroom lighting, recycling programs, low VOC carpet and paint and an analamatic sun dial in the courtyard which is also used a teaching tool for the students. The school also includes: classrooms, science labs, administration office, media center, gymnasium and multi-purpose space with a black box theater.
