St. Lucie County Government – Douglas M. Anderson Emergency Operations Center

*Experience of Beth McKeown

St. Lucie County needed a new 27,000 SF facility in order to integrate the sheriff’s department and county fire district with 911 and emergency dispatch. The new Emergency Operations Center was designed to withstand hurricane force winds of up to 200mph and was designed to complement the existing nearby community.
The interior spaces included an operations room, 911 call center, multi-purpose space, conference rooms and full kitchen. The project was designed to meet the criteria for LEED® Certification by the United States Green Building Council and included low VOC products and high recycled content resilient materials to create a dynamic interior environment capable of meeting the extreme demands by its users.
